What you agree to when you use Amili. Plain English. No legalese fog.

TL;DR. Amili is a personal AI companion. Be decent. Don't try to break it. We charge honestly, cancel easily, and don't hide surprises in the fine print. If something goes wrong, we both behave reasonably.

1. Who we are

Amili is operated by Paulo de Vries (the builder). Contact [email protected]. These terms govern your use of amili.ai and related services.

3. What Amili does

Amili is a chat-based AI companion with persistent memory. It uses Anthropic's Claude models to generate responses. Memory is extracted from your messages using regex patterns and stored in a Cloudflare D1 database attached to your account.

Amili is a consumer product, not a professional service. It is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, therapeutic, or crisis-care advice. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms. We'll tell you why.

5. Subscriptions & billing

Free trial. Paid plans include a 7-day free trial. You must provide a valid payment method to start the trial. No charge occurs during the trial. Cancel any time during the 7 days and pay nothing. If you don't cancel, your card is charged on day 8 at the plan price you selected.

Cancellation. One click from the chat sidebar opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancel there. You keep access until the end of your current billing period (or the end of your trial, whichever applies).

Refunds. Annual plans: prorated refund for unused months on cancellation. Monthly plans: no refund for the current month; cancellation simply ends auto-renew. If a charge was fraudulent or in error, email us and we'll refund promptly.

Price changes. If we change prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change applies. Existing subscribers keep their current price until the next billing cycle after the notice period. Founding members keep their locked rate per section above.

6. Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your card number or CVC. Stripe's privacy policy covers how they handle payment data. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms.

7. Intellectual property

You own everything you write to Amili. You grant us a license to store and process your messages only to operate Amili for you. We do not claim ownership of your content. We do not use it to train AI models. Your content is not combined with other users' content.

Amili the brand, the codebase, and the design are ours. Don't copy them. The open technical ideas behind Amili (memory extraction from conversation, edge-deployed chat) are fair game to learn from.

8. AI disclaimer

Amili uses a large language model. It can be wrong, confident when it shouldn't be, or miss nuance. Verify anything important independently. Don't treat Amili's output as medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. Memory extraction is regex-based and imperfect — occasionally it will misremember a detail. Correct it from the sidebar.

9. Service availability

We aim for ≥99% uptime and respond quickly to incidents. But we're a small operation on third-party infrastructure (Cloudflare + Anthropic). Outages happen. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service. If there is an extended outage on a paid plan, email us and we'll credit your account fairly.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Amili is provided "as is." Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages. This doesn't limit liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything else that can't be disclaimed under your local law.

11. Termination

You can stop using Amili anytime. We can terminate accounts for material breaches of these terms, after notice and reasonable chance to cure unless the breach is egregious. If we terminate without cause, we'll refund any unused prepaid period.

12. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If we disagree, let's try email first ([email protected]). Failing that, disputes go to the courts of Amsterdam, unless local consumer law grants you a different forum.

13. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be announced via in-app notice and email. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance. You can always see the current version at this URL.
