Amili, next to the assistants you already use.
ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are good at a lot, and so are the newer agents that carry out tasks on the web. Here is what each is best at, and where Amili is, and is not, the better choice. During its beta Amili itself runs on Claude by Anthropic, so this is not a contest between AI models. It is about how you work with one.
Three kinds of assistant.
They overlap, and you can use more than one. Each is built for a different job.
Chat assistants
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini. You open a chat, ask, and work with the answer.
Best at open questions, writing, explaining, and thinking something through with you.
Task agents
Such as ChatGPT agent. You hand over a job, and it works through the steps, on the web, in its own browser.
Best at a clear, many-step job you would otherwise click through yourself.
Amili
You say things as they come up, in a sentence, a voice note or a photo. Amili sorts them, remembers them, and handles what it can.
Best at the running list of a busy life: said once, kept, and brought back when it matters.
Side by side.
What each one does, in plain words. The numbers link to the sources at the bottom of this page.
What it remembers
- Chat assistants
- ChatGPT can keep memories you ask it to save and can draw on your past chats. Claude can search your past chats and build a memory from them. In both you can see what is kept, and turn it off.
- Task agents
- Built for the job in front of them, not for keeping track of your life from one week to the next.
- Amili
- Keeps what you told it: dates, decisions and the things you said no to. Ask later and you get your own answer back.
Whether it comes back to you
- Chat assistants
- Mostly when you ask. ChatGPT's scheduled tasks and Gemini's scheduled actions can run a prompt at a time you choose and send you the result.
- Task agents
- While a job runs, it checks in with you before important steps. You can pause it or take over.
- Amili
- Stays quiet until something needs you, then reaches you with a notification. What only you can do waits on one short list, called Do.
Money, messages and passwords
- Chat assistants
- They answer in the chat. What they can do beyond that depends on the product and on what you connect to it.
- Task agents
- ChatGPT agent asks for your permission before steps with real consequences, such as a purchase or sending an email. For passwords and card numbers you can take over the browser yourself.
- Amili
- Never spends your money: no purchases, no subscriptions. Never sends anything as you without your yes for that exact message. Never asks for passwords or codes.
Can you use it today
- Chat assistants
- Yes. ChatGPT and Claude have free and paid plans. Some Gemini features, such as scheduled actions, need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan.
- Task agents
- Yes, inside some assistants. What you get depends on the product and your plan.
- Amili
- Not yet for most people. The private beta opens on 14 October 2026, ten people first, free and by invitation. There is no price yet.
When to choose which.
Amili is the better choice when
- You run more than one thing at once, and the small things live in five different places.
- You want to say it once and have it come back at the right moment, without sorting it yourself.
- You want clear lines: no spending, nothing sent as you without your yes, no passwords.
- You do not want to pick an AI model. Choosing is Amili's job.
Something else is the better choice when
- You want to write, code, study or think in depth. A chat assistant is built for that. Amili is not trying to replace it.
- You need a job done on websites, step by step, now. That is what a task agent is for.
- You need it today, connected to your other apps. Amili is in a small beta, and most connections, such as your calendar and reminders, are still coming.
- You would rather no person reads along. During the beta, Paulo, who built Amili, reads along with the AI agents he runs.
- You need medical, legal, financial or safety advice. Amili's answers are help, not professional advice.
Want to try Amili?
The private beta opens 14 October. Ten people first, each with their own Amili, kept apart from everyone else's. Leave your email and you get one message when your spot opens.
